Currently posting from the sweetest little coffee shop, Black Eye Coffee, in Denver. Move to South Carolina! Charleston would gladly welcome you. The closer I get to my
South Carolina American departure, I realize how much I’ll miss almost everything about life lately, including our little coffee scene in the Holy City (I’m talking about you Collective, BT, Brown’s Court, Kudu). But this post isn’t about coffee, or charleston for that matter. It’s about home and how sometimes everything you really care about ends up in one place, for maybe one minute, and that’s show stopping, wondrous. Anyway… this weekend I feel lucky to have spent time in places I’ve been in and out of my whole life with people who are completely removed from my times there. What feels weird: spending the morning eating the same breakfast with your high school bffs, spending the afternoon touring a big sister’s (is that what you are, Rachael? a cousin-friend? a goddess?) first home with her family, and spending the evening buying your mom beer at your boyfriend’s show. It’s nice introducing the oldest and best to the newest and best…And falling in love with what’s happened during your absence. Falling so hard.
Proof that SC isn’t a hell-swamp:
