Happy birthday, America! We (my grandmother and I!) spent our holiday weekend watching orange-pink sunsets & bursts of fireworks along the beach, playing dominoes until bed time, and chatting over coffee in the morning.
Today, we’re people watching & on the lookout for more fireworks. Holy hibiscus, Ccocoa Beach is beautiful in summer!
Hope you have a Happy 4th!

If you’re looking for ways to spend a morning in the city, consider visiting the Elizabeth Street Garden tucked in Nolita. It is the perfect oasis between shopping and brunching. Bring a blanket and spend an hour reading (conveniently located near McNally Johnson, if you’re empty handed) underneath a trees or quickly stroll through the .46 acres of green space if you’re pressed for time.
New York City parks and gardens are magical in the summer, but it’s little ones like these that make turning a corner on a crowded neighborhood incredibly rewarding.
The garden offers various events throughout the week and weekend, which you can read about here. Unfortunately, housing construction plans are a threat, but by signing this letter and spreading the news you can make a difference.
What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday morning? Any favorite parks? Let me know.
Now get out there! It’s summer.

Some brunch inspiration for this weekend: Two Hands! I’ve been wanting to try the popular spot since I moved here, and I finally went last Saturday.
Two Hands is an Australian breakfast joint (I can count the number of times I’ve used the term ‘breakfast joint. Just once, just now.) known for its charming ambiance (clouds !!!! adorable little hanging clouds!!!) and healthy menu (fresh juices, superfood bowls, avo toast).
Last weekend had a bit of bizarre weather- cloudy, rainy mornings, heavy wind mixed with sunshine, freezing temps overnight. Aka everything to make my Spring Post look like a cruel April Fools joke…. Brunching here was the perfect choice for an instant boost of cheer. So colorful and bright. *Scours Pinterest for an illuminating cloud DIY tutorial.*

Everyone always says time moves quickly, but am I wrong for thinking 2016 is moving very, very, verrrrrryyyy quickly? April? Today? Already? Busyness aside, there’s something MAGICAL about the seasons changing. Every few months I’m convinced the approaching one is by far my favorite, and right now it’s seriously easy to consider Spring time in NYC as being number one.
Come on?! Couldn’t you just sit underneath those blooms forever?
What are you looking forward to most about Spring in the city? Food recommendations with outdoor seating very much encouraged.

It snowed on Friday morning, and by three o’clock it had completely melted. For my first winter in NY– it has been a bit underwhelming. A couple big snows, a couple cold V COLD weekends, but overall not too bad. Here are some photos from a beautiful snowday in February. Bliss.

It’s still winter, but I couldn’t be happier with the two new scents in the shop- No.16 and Ilha! No.16 is lilac, jasmine, and sandalwood. Ilha is teakwood and coconut. I haven’t stopped burning either one since their creation. My apartment is a candle. Of course, many of the original scents are perfect year long. But these feel extra sunny.
In addition to the candles, I’ve updated the shop with a new bundle of ceramics. So very exciting! Hope you enjoy.

Go and tell the ones you love that you love them!
Also, shout out to my favorite bagel shop for making these pink pretty things this weekend. So festive. Spending the day inside (so obnoxiously cold) with my #1. Can’t ask for anything better. My Valentine’s Day wish-list from last year still hold up, in case you’re looking to spoil yourself.
