H O M E Tour – Asheville, NC

Earlier this year, Corey and Savannah relocated to Asheville, NC. Which makes me depressed every time I get off the 77 St. Subway stop/ walk anywhere remotely close to their old Upper East Side apartment. It’s fair to say their home in Asheville is 500x the size of aforementioned apartment.
I took some snapshots of their new spot when I visited this summer, and it feels cruel to keep it from the world. I MEAN LOOK AT THIS PLACE.

Is there any summer activity more iconic and/or picturesque than a picnic? Highly unlikely. Unless that thing is a hot air balloon ride… Picnics, in the realm of accessible and practical activities to do, win.
After a week or so of hunching over my laptop and sleeping terribly, I packed up shop and went to the pond. Read some poems, some essays, ate an apple, looked at birds and green trees. The peace, the air, the necessity of reading type that isn’t glowing on a screen was much needed to say the least. Here’s a wild guess: you probably need it, too.

Sweatpants. Hair Tied. (& Valentine’s)

Chillin’ with no makeup on…. Is how I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day. Obviously listening to new Drake. His surprise album is what I’ve now dubbed as V-Day Miracle 2015, and I plan on listening to it on repeat through the weekend. Danny and I are both sick-ish. So we have no reason to do anything but spend Saturday in our pajamas. He made a boss avgolemono soup (he introduced me to this Greek magic & it’s my absolute favorite!) and I have magazine reading to catch up on. It’s v cold in Raleigh, but nice (nothing like NYFW cold). And we have kissing to do.
My picks, accordingly.

The closest thing I’ll ever have to a sister had a birthday.

For Christmas I asked for the fuzzy alarm clock from Gilmore Girls and a therapist. But here’s a list of things I think are amazing that might be worth considering if you’re still searching for gifts to wrap.
Fifteen things I’m almost obsessed with:
1. Coffee Subscription from Stumptown Roasters. Brilliant.
2. Gold Heart Studs.
3. My Aunt makes these cornflake wreath treats every Decemeber and we all go bananas. Here‘s a recipe (not hers).
4. Perfume. Tom Ford for the win- complex scents in really, really pretty bottles.
5. This candle.
6. A copy of Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca. With Hitch’s film. The best and the best.
7. Book wishlist is never ending, but Olena Kalytiak Davis’s The Poem She Didn’t Write and Other Poems is the one I’m looking forward to most this season.
8. This Marni shirt. Ruler of all strange, expensive t-shirts.
9. Diptyque Lip Balm.
10. Whiskey. From Oban. With Love.
11. These Arctic Explorer ornaments.
12. Bach Flower Remedy in Wild Oat…and cherry plum, chicory, elm, honeysuckle, star of Bethlehem, the list goes on.
13. Nail polish that is so light pink it looks like nothing.
14. This fuzzy clutch, also light pink, which is everything.
15. White high-top converse. But not just any white high-top converse. Leather.
Happy gift giving! Give more, take less, and be happy with everything. Like the oven mitt. That’s what makes it fun.
