True confession: I love back to school shopping. Office supplies make me giddy because I’m kind of Type A and very into paper goods (and planners). A new school year is like a new year, so there’s a chance to catch your breath and shift your goals and buy new glasses or shoes or pencils for the sake of education. Huzzah! « Read the rest of this entry »

Raleigh makes me happy. Not just because my boyfriend live there, which probably helps, but because it’s a great city. I went for a long weekend in October and it was perfect timing. Weather, food, friends, errythang good… We stopped by all our favorite spots- coffee shops (Brew, Morning Times), restaurants (Beasley’s, Joule, Busy Bee, the Pit) (lots of comfort food for real), and did some fall festivities involving pumpkins and scary movies. How easy it is to miss the South when you’re away from it!
I brought my camera along and only managed to take photos over drinks at Bittersweet (they were pretty!), a random pumpkin patch photo, and some street views. If i was smarter I would have taken a photo of my “Eggs Beasley’s” at brunch. My bad.

The universal sign for packing may be crying. It is hard.
It is frustrating. We’d all like to punch the “I love packing!” people in the face, but they’d probably be prepared for that, since packers are prepared for all things. I’m not. However I’m getting better at carrying a light load, metaphorically and physically. And these items are the items I’d write love poems to if I wasn’t already writing actual poems about other things.

I knew I found a good place when my boyfriend texted, “Is there electricity at the farm? All your photos are so dark.” Overnight, fall happened. Which means it’s even darker. Which means I’m even more obsessed with the shadows here. September, you’re unreal. Our farewell to summer was eating raw oysters, pâté, and drinking bottles of Tête de Mule on a rainy afternoon. And now there’s cold air and the excuse to put lavender infused honey in everything. My god, the honey. On a closing note, I knew I found a good boyfriend when he texted, “Come back…I’ll buy you a damn farm if that’s what you want.” Again, sweet.
