Happy birthday, America! We (my grandmother and I!) spent our holiday weekend watching orange-pink sunsets & bursts of fireworks along the beach, playing dominoes until bed time, and chatting over coffee in the morning.

Today, we’re people watching & on the lookout for more fireworks. Holy hibiscus, Ccocoa Beach is beautiful in summer!

Hope you have a Happy 4th!

Cocoa Beach Part II

February 1, 2016 § 1 Comment

Sometimes on a Monday morning during Winter, it helps to think about the beach.  I already posted some ocean photos of my time visiting my Grandmother in Cocoa Beach in January, but here are even more tropical photos. I’ll let them do the talking. Have a great week, everyone!

^^^ Best for last! Love you, Nana! ^^^

P.S. You know what else is tropical? The One Morning Limited Edition Tea & Citrus candle. Now available in the shop. You’re welcome!

What a beautiful, strange, and memorable year this was. Thanks all for continuing to make this life special. My favorite moments, photographed:

Can’t wait to meet you, 2016!

I thought I liked NYC in the summer, but I really liked NYC in December. Christmas trees in the windows, lights galore, and window displays were A++. However, holidays aren’t holidays without family. I’ve been in the Carolinas for a couple weeks and for the first year EVER didn’t travel to Minneapolis to visit my cousins, aunts, and uncles. No snow this Christmas- just mid 70’s and rainy. Bizarre, yes, but still beautifully lazy and fun. Hope everything for everyone was merry and bright.

Thanksgiving

November 27, 2015 § Leave a comment

I hope everyone enjoyed their day of gratitude.  Each year I’m overwhelmed with how many things I have to be grateful for. This year I spent Thanksgiving with Danny’s family meaning lots of food and football. (Go Panthers! Go Bears!) I ate my weight in pie and then had some more.

Wizarding World

Harry Potter readers are the luckiest readers in existence- who else gets to travel into the world of their favorite stories so vividly? It’s a dream. When we celebrated my grandmother’s birthday, we also took her to Universal Studios to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She’s been a loyal fan since J.K. Rowling published the first book. So it was pretty cute and super special.  My aunt (also a HP lover) came with and it was, as you’d expect, like magic. In Love With The Cocoa

April 28, 2015 § Leave a comment

If I had to choose right now, I’d nominate waking up at the beach with the ones I love the most to be the ultimate archetype of a perfect morning. South Carolina beaches are nice, but nowhere near as tropical as Cocoa Beach– where my grandmother calls home.  A change of scenery (and ice cream cake!) is v important.
