If you’re looking for ways to spend a morning in the city, consider visiting the Elizabeth Street Garden tucked in Nolita. It is the perfect oasis between shopping and brunching. Bring a blanket and spend an hour reading (conveniently located near McNally Johnson, if you’re empty handed) underneath a trees or quickly stroll through the .46 acres of green space if you’re pressed for time.
New York City parks and gardens are magical in the summer, but it’s little ones like these that make turning a corner on a crowded neighborhood incredibly rewarding.
The garden offers various events throughout the week and weekend, which you can read about here. Unfortunately, housing construction plans are a threat, but by signing this letter and spreading the news you can make a difference.
What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday morning? Any favorite parks? Let me know.
Now get out there! It’s summer.

I’m from Fort Mill, South Carolina. Fort. Mill. South. Carolina. We don’t get two feet of snow. Ever. Waking up Saturday morning to the first
real snow blizzard of the season was blissful. It literally happened one morning. All at once. Suddenly winter! I read a lot, made some candles, drank some coffee, talked on the phone, and frantically checked the front lawn every half hour to see that, yes, indeed, the snow was still falling. P.S. The Panthers are Super Bowl Bound. #BestWeekendEver
^^^ Some photos I took on an 8am walk, you know, before it continued to snow heavily for a solid sixteen more hours.
What is your favorite way to spend a snowy morning? As always, I’m curious.

Long weekends tend to halt any and all productivity I seem to be orbiting. It is the last hoorah for the hot weather. I’ve spoken with a handful of coworkers and friends and family asking them what they did. Mostly it involved drinks or food or being outdoors but in some cases, working. Ouch.
I spent my morning eating an everything bagel with my traveling bf. JK, but Danny did come to visit! Maybe I didn’t need a three day weekend to signify the seasons changing, a school year starting, and the routine of life changing in a span of several weeks….but it gave me a little room to catch up with those changes….and sometimes that takes work. *Brushes off hands*

Here are some photos of what I consider to be an almost perfect two days in the city. Complete with a baseball game! (Caution: Portraits of a bromance at Citi Field follow.) Weekends in NYC are good for hot dogs and markets and museums and shopping. Alla that.

I moved to the city everyone talks about! It feels amazing and big and bold and right. My best friend and boyfriend happened to be here the weekend of settling. (Come back, please!) So taking everything in was somehow better. The metro. The park. The hoards of people. The infamous energy. It’s all here.
Some photos of the first week here. The last one of July. The summer going.
Bloggers, readers, friends! Please give me your recommendations. I have a lot to see and eat and drink. I’m here to stay.
P.S. Tell me Thi and Ashley aren’t the best? He takes really beautiful photos of her (not hard to do) and others in the city, which you can check out here.
