Sometimes on a Monday morning during Winter, it helps to think about the beach. I already posted some ocean photos of my time visiting my Grandmother in Cocoa Beach in January, but here are even more tropical photos. I’ll let them do the talking. Have a great week, everyone!

How calming is the ocean? These photos from a hazy sunset last week fill me with such peace. One resolution in 2016 is to pay more attention to my senses. Reading A Natural History of the Senses by Diane Ackerman has everything to do with this!!! And finally accepting that I’m addicted to my phone, which is pointless.
I just spent a week in Cocoa Beach, FL visiting my grandmother. It rained all but two days, so I didn’t get as many freckles as I usually do when hitting the beach and pool. We played hours of dominoes and card games each night, and a week away with someone I love so much made the whole world disappear. No better way to start a new year.
Hopefully this year will be full of paying more attention to my surroundings. Feeling the ocean, hearing the birds, hugging my grandmother, tasting coconut macroons, smelling the coffee. It helps if this coffee is on a balcony overlooking tropical plants and the shore. Just taking it all in.

I thought I liked NYC in the summer, but I really liked NYC in December. Christmas trees in the windows, lights galore, and window displays were A++. However, holidays aren’t holidays without family. I’ve been in the Carolinas for a couple weeks and for the first year EVER didn’t travel to Minneapolis to visit my cousins, aunts, and uncles. No snow this Christmas- just mid 70’s and rainy. Bizarre, yes, but still beautifully lazy and fun. Hope everything for everyone was merry and bright.

I hope everyone enjoyed their day of gratitude. Each year I’m overwhelmed with how many things I have to be grateful for. This year I spent Thanksgiving with Danny’s family meaning lots of food and football. (Go Panthers! Go Bears!) I ate my weight in pie and then had some more.
