Some brunch inspiration for this weekend: Two Hands! I’ve been wanting to try the popular spot since I moved here, and I finally went last Saturday.
Two Hands is an Australian breakfast joint (I can count the number of times I’ve used the term ‘breakfast joint. Just once, just now.) known for its charming ambiance (clouds !!!! adorable little hanging clouds!!!) and healthy menu (fresh juices, superfood bowls, avo toast).
Last weekend had a bit of bizarre weather- cloudy, rainy mornings, heavy wind mixed with sunshine, freezing temps overnight. Aka everything to make my Spring Post look like a cruel April Fools joke…. Brunching here was the perfect choice for an instant boost of cheer. So colorful and bright. *Scours Pinterest for an illuminating cloud DIY tutorial.*

One morning (this past Saturday) two people (sweet, old friends) went to the mountains (Boone, NC) and there was a proposal. Cue the best engagement celebration ever to happen in the history of Sundays. There was popcorn and barbecue and malfunctioning string lights (BEN IS THE MVP) and high school friends meeting new life friends and lot to be thankful for. I tried to capture how positive this party was- so much joy (!!!) but it feels almost impossible. Here’s a love thats big. We’re so happy for y’all !!!!

Last Sunday I was more or less ready to lug my blongings (brocante purchases really weigh down a carry-on) to and fro Charles De Gualle….but at 8am, word reached me that my flight had cancelled. Tragedy! A whole day in Paris! Mine! To be had! On a Sunday! Too good to be true. « Read the rest of this entry »

I’m in France for work I want to be doing. How removed from danger I feel is a joke. It’s unjust. It stares me in the face. I am safe. In the countryside. Stars at night. That.
This isn’t about me. The first text I received from my boyfriend (that word sounds so f*cking trite everytime I say it). Danny. The first text I read the morning I woke up, in this bliss, was from Danny and it said, “8 people were shot and killed on Calhoun street in Charleston.” his subsequent texts described what would be broadcasted on the news since. Charleston. That home. Those faces. Far away.
We write because we’re selfish. I don’t need the internet to know that I cry If I think about their names. I don’t need the internet to know that I keep counting objects. Three ducks. Six coins. Nine flowers. Nine.

Happy Easter! Apparently, Norwegians celebrate this holiday by reading Crime Novels. Growing up in the South did not include such a thing… Easter was pretty consistent: church, drawing cartoons on the church pamphlet during service (sry God), lunch, easter baskets, pained eggs, peeps. Marshmallows and jellybeans aside, this morning is about redemption. Blooming. Spring. Sunlight. Which brings me to photos! A couple weeks ago, we had our first picnic of the season. Here are kids I love doing what they love (being together, outside, eating pretzels). This feels like spring. It’s peaceful and sweet.

I don’t do hats, but this weekend I purchased one at The Depot— which is actual proof that people change. More importantly, seasons do. Spring is technically happening. Flowers are blooming. SPF 60+ is in my handbag where it will stay until September. If you’re still waiting for the warmth (Hi New Yorkers)… know that it’s coming.
