Mornings Away: V E N I C E, Italy

December 6, 2016 § Leave a comment

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetVenice has an astonishing palette: pastels mixed with blues mixed with grays. I visited in the cold spring, and I’m now turning to those colors to get me through the cold winter (it is coming, I can feel it).

Looking back, I realize that I only posted photos from Murano & Burano, and Caffè Florian. I left out Venice’s best part: the water. The sinking buildings. The bright, bright blue.

H O M E Tour – Asheville, NC

November 30, 2016 § 1 Comment

Earlier this year, Corey and Savannah relocated to Asheville, NC.  Which makes me depressed every time I get off the 77 St. Subway stop/ walk anywhere remotely close to their old Upper East Side apartment. It’s fair to say their home in Asheville is 500x the size of aforementioned apartment.

I took some snapshots of their new spot when I visited this summer, and it feels cruel to keep it from the world. I MEAN LOOK AT THIS PLACE.

fall-books

2016 has been a strange year for America but an incredible year for books.  I am  awe-struck by the poetry releases this year (namely: Monica Youn’s Blackacre, Safiya Sinclair’s Cannibal, and Solmaz Sharif’s Look. ) and fiction releases have been suuuuuuper exciting as well (Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad, Brit Bennett’s The Mothers).  It’s raining books not written by white men! « Read the rest of this entry »

Crushing On: The Negroni

The cocktail was born in Italy in 1919, but looks better than ever right now. Not that it hasn’t been cool before, you know you’re hot shit when Frederico Fellini directs a commercial celebrating you. Well, it was actually a campari commercial, but considering a Negroni would be nothing without Campari, it still seems valid to bring up. The negroni is simple: equal parts gin, Campari, and vermouth.  It’s garnished with an orange peel and served in a tumbler.  Bitter + a little sweet + very pretty = a summer do.

Hip, hip, hooray! It’s summer. Celebrate accordingly.

Today officially marks the first day of summer! June has felt like the watermelon emoji brought to life. I’ve been living in my swimsuit and feeling bursts of inspiration and motivation brought on by sunshine and working remotely.  (Pool for coffee break= yes yes yes!)
